Territory Account Executive — Metals Distribution

Picture your week: you’re on the road meeting fabricators, OEMs, and machine shops across Southern Indiana and South‑Central Illinois. You uncover new opportunities, deepen existing partnerships, and steer a segment-focused plan that expands O’Neal Steel’s footprint in carbon and alloy steel, stainless, and aluminum. You’re the face of O’Neal Steel in the field—owning every interaction, championing value, and ensuring profitable, long‑term relationships.
What you’ll take ownership of
- Build new business by identifying and calling on prospects with the highest potential for sustained, profitable growth.
- Nurture and service existing accounts, strengthening loyalty and expanding share of wallet.
- Keep sales leadership informed with consistent updates on prospecting, account development, and presentations.
- Design and execute a segment‑specific sales strategy that includes:
- Serving as the account coordinator for assigned customers and business partnerships.
- Prospecting within market segments that offer the greatest long‑term potential.
- Deepening relationships through parallel selling and cost‑saving initiatives that deliver measurable value.
- Evaluating the profit potential of current and prospective accounts.
- Exiting unprofitable activity and transitioning profitable but lower‑potential accounts to Inside Sales.
- Owning all O’Neal interactions for your assigned accounts.
What sets you up for success
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of successful metal sales experience (industrial metals distribution or related).
- Exceptional communication, time management, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Self‑starter who thrives working independently.
- Comfort with computer and internet‑based applications; able to learn new tools quickly.
- Willingness to travel, including overnight trips; valid driver’s license required.
Additional strengths
Interpersonal savvy, energizing motivation, persuasive negotiating, versatility, strong organization and planning, creativity, tenacity, and steady performance under pressure. Familiarity with O’Neal Steel’s general product line is expected.

General requirements: Ability to concentrate and remain productive in high‑pressure situations; overnight travel required.
