We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding patient diagnoses and procedures, managing medical billing processes, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Your expertise will contribute to the efficiency of our medical office operations and the financial health of our organization.
Duties
- Process medical billing and collections efficiently, ensuring timely submission of claims to insurance companies.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards.
- Utilize EMR and EHR systems to input data, track billing information, and manage patient records.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures as needed for accurate coding.
- Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding guidelines, and billing practices to ensure compliance.
- Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to billing or coding with insurance companies or patients.
Skills
- Proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10) and CPT coding is essential.
- Strong understanding of medical billing processes, including collections and claims management.
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred, showcasing familiarity with medical terminology and records management.
- Experience with EMR and EHR systems is highly desirable for efficient data handling.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
