Head Swim Lesson Coordinator - Seasonal

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising a comprehensive swim lesson program.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Minimum of twenty (20) years of age plus a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in swimming instruction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Ensure that the pool is adequately staffed and supervised during all swim lessons.
2. Hire, train, supervise and evaluate instructors.
3. Enforce all rules and regulations.
4. Ensure a clean and safe environment.
5. Assume the functions of the Manager during lesson time.
6. Conduct in-service training of staff.
7. Respond to patron questions and problems.
8. Coordinate assigning participants to specific classes.
9. Maintain a high level of readiness and knowledge of functions and operations of all safety, rescue, and first aid equipment.
10. Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
11. Follow the Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines.
12. Proactively support the V.A.L.U.E.S. (integrity, fun, commitment, adaptability and growth, kindness, and service) on a daily basis.
13. Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC

This position must have an adult/child CPR, First Aid, and National Pool and Water Park Lifeguard Training Certificate. Water Safety Instructor Certificate preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position must be able to rarely move objects such as lane lines weighing up to 25 lbs. and rarely over shoulders and head weighing up to 25 lbs. This position will be required to frequently move about the pool deck and offices, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, and reach. This position should have the physical ability to perform CPR on adults and children.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position must be able to be exposed to all extreme summer weather conditions including heat, sun, rain, and varying degrees of temperature and light. This position will also be exposed to pool chemicals and cleaning supplies.

SALARY

Looking to hire at $15.00 per hour

SALARY RANGE

Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum

$15.00 - $18.75 - $22.50
