Position Summary

A Kemgard Operator is responsible for producing a quality product as specified in the DP409001 “Production Sampling and Testing Guidelines”, ensuring quality of product is within specifications, the correct product is packaged following plant instructions, package labeling meets requirements, finished product weights are within range. Plant orders could be in bags weighing up to 50 lbs. or super sacks. The Kemgard Operator reports to the Production Manager.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Huber Sustainability Management Standard requirements, within their sphere of influence. This may or may not include compliance with any air permits, waste water permits, storm water permits, or other rules as presented to the employee as requirements.

Potentially Significant EH&S Impact(s): In charge of monitoring their equipment for visible emissions, immediate shut down of equipment with visible emissions and reporting emissions to their Manager. Additionally, report all spills, incidents, and near hits to their Manager, and input into Enablon.

1. The Kemgard Operator operates the Kemgard process, including filling super sacks and manual bagging / palletizing finished product weighing up to 50 lbs.
2. Staging of raw materials in dosing area.
3. Perform simple tests & data collections for the process engineer and/or management team.
4. Blends products utilizing blender and packages appropriately per customer orders when needed.
5. Performs product changeovers
6. Conducts daily area inspections of Kemgard system to identify any unsafe conditions and reports them in Enablon as well as enter a work request when necessary.
7. Operates system from HMI (Human Machine Interface) in a safe and efficient manner
8. Operates bag printer to label unprinted bags. Ensures packaging labeling is accurate per DOT, IMDG, and IATA requirements.
9. Cleans super sacks and bagged pallets in the pallet blow-off booth and wraps them to stabilize for shipment.
10. Warehouses finished product.
11. Performs preventative maintenance servicing of equipment as required. Ensures all applicable equipment is locked out before repair work begins.
12. Obtains in-process, final product, or load out samples on pre-determined intervals DP409001 “Production Sampling and Testing Guidelines” or as specified on the LW403003 “Plant Order Instructions”.
13. Prepares required daily operation reports and fills out daily production logs.
14. Advises maintenance of operating problems and conditions.
15. Employees must learn and observe all applicable company policies and safe practices and perform all duties assigned by supervisor. This description covers the significant duties of the job but may not include occasional assignments which would be within the evaluation of this job.
16. Follow ISO 9001 guidelines and supports the quality management system.
17. Operates forklift.
18. Consults with Maintenance personnel and initiates action to correct any problems if any are found.
19. Notifies Production Manager of any problems that will or may impact a confirmed finished product customer ship date.
20. Consults with QC Lab Technician to assure compliance with quality control specifications.
21. Maintains and oversees good housekeeping practices of the Kemgard area.
22. Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate Mill clean out, trials, Plant needs, etc.
23. Stencils product with customer information, repalletizes product, dumps nonconforming product.
24. Complete and document daily visible emission readings.
25. Provide leadership to the Utility Operators in blending section.
26. Attend regular meetings, including Daily Huddle and Team Meetings.
27. Must use hand held scanners for bar coding and inventory when needed.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years industrial experience or a combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to handle multiple duties at once. Interacts with shippers, truckers, management, and plant personnel all in the same time frame.
• Must have good computer skills working with Oracle and Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to operate a forklift and maintain forklift certification.
• Willing and able to work and act safely.
• Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations that include the following: multiplication, addition, and percentages – all of which can be accomplished with the use of a calculator if needed Must be able to communicate both written and verbally with all levels to include management, peers, vendors, and plant personnel.
• Must be able to read and comprehend company safety manual policies, operating procedures, SDSs, and various production schedules / reports.
• Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs. consistently while packaging, must be able to ascend and descend ladders, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and crawl. Must be able to work in a dusty environment where temperatures vary from extremely hot to cold, work in humidity and around various chemicals.
• Must be able to wear PAPR respirator when required.

Physical Requirements

• Works inside and outside in all areas of plant, and is often exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, grease, oil, potential ground product / raw material spillage and dirty working conditions.
• Has a thorough knowledge of each mill and its operation, the ability to start up, run and explain material flow of product through the mill. Plant milling system equipment is located on multiple levels and requires climbing stairs or stationary ladders to monitor and/or adjust its operation.
• Must follow and comply with OSHA, IATA & IMDG industrial regulations.

Any offered salary is determined based on relevant factors such as an applicant's skills, performance, job responsibilities, prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications and market considerations.

U.S. Market-Based Salary Range

[$27.55 - $30.30]

In addition to base compensation, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and profit-sharing payout.
