ASME Section VIII Pressure Vessel Welder

Make Every Bead Count

Step onto the floor as an ASME Section VIII Division 1 code-compliant welder and own your craft from setup to sign‑off. Your day starts by reviewing drawings and customer specs, aligning with the Plant Foreman and your Assigned Fitter, and planning your sequence. You’ll run FCAW with confidence—back‑gouging where required—while keeping safety, quality, and timing front and center.

A Day in This Role

• Interpret and follow customer specifications, applicable codes, and recognized industry standards for pressure vessel fabrication.
• Execute Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) with an emphasis on precise back‑gouging; perform GTAW and SMAW as needed.
• Work safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety regulations and best practices.
• Maintain accurate labor records throughout each assignment.
• Clean each completed section for inspection readiness and approval.
• Keep company tools in excellent working condition.
• Coordinate daily with the Plant Foreman and Assigned Fitter to sequence and prioritize work.
• Communicate directly with the Internal Quality Control Manager; respond to customer site inspectors and the Authorized Inspector.
• Operate with limited supervision, managing your schedule to deliver defect‑free results on time.
• Complete all required project paperwork and documentation promptly.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated welding capabilities via Mason’s weld test.
• Ability to attain and maintain certifications for required production welds.
• Proficient blueprint reading and interpretation.
• Team-oriented collaborator with excellent communication skills.
• Dependable and punctual; strong troubleshooting ability.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver’s License; Forklift license; ability to perform Crane Operation.
• Tape measure proficiency.

Preferred

• 3+ years of vessel fabrication experience.
• Knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1.
