Legal Assistant Paralegal (Chicago)
Title: Legal Assistant Paralegal
Duration: 6 month contract with potential to extend or full-time higher
Location: Hybrid in Chicago, IL
This Legal Operations Specialist will play a key role in optimizing legal processes, managing technology solutions, ensuring System compliance, and enhancing overall efficiency within the legal department. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, contributing to the success of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the implementation and administration of legal technology solutions including policy management software and contract management systems and collaborate with IT to ensure seamless integration and functionality of legal tools.
Oversee the Systems entity management platform and administer its corporate governance, state authorization, and compliance management functions.
Administer legal holds, subpoenaed document collection, and garnishments.
Provide support to legal counsel and finance teams on insurance administration, including obtaining certificates of insurance and surety bonds, and assisting, as needed, with document collections for annual insurance renewals.
Manage the processing and approval of legal invoices and ensure accurate and timely payment to legal vendors.
Provide support, as needed, to state authorization and professional licensure compliance programs.
Coordinate updates to and maintenance of the legal department's website and ensure that content is current, accurate, and aligns with organizational branding.
Manage calendars and schedules, coordinate and schedule meetings, and other events.
Serve as a notary public as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Ability to navigate a cross-matrixed organization and work collaboratively with all stakeholders.
Ability to assist in the management of the legal regulatory requirements that affect and impact higher education institutions.
Excellent analytic, verbal and written communications, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under limited supervision with efficiency and considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Position Qualifications:
Proven experience in legal operations or a similar role.
Familiarity with legal technology solutions and workflow automation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
