Job Description
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing daily quality control inspections and testing within a precast concrete manufacturing environment. This role ensures products meet ASTM, PCI, NPCA, and DOT quality standards through thorough testing, documentation, and collaboration with production teams. The technician will conduct concrete testing, verify product specifications, and support continuous improvement in quality processes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-pour and post-pour inspections using QC checklists and project specifications
- Perform fresh concrete testing including slump flow, density, air content, yield, temperature, and compressive strength testing
- Verify reinforcement placement, embedded items, dimensions, and surface finishes against approved drawings
- Record results in QC logs, batch tickets, and daily reports while generating nonconformance reports when required
- Maintain calibration records for testing equipment and assist with scheduled equipment calibrations
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of precast concrete or ready-mix quality control experience
- Knowledge of ASTM, PCI, NPCA quality standards and DOT specifications
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mix designs, and shop drawings
- Strong attention to detail with accurate recordkeeping and communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and work in plant environments with varying temperatures, dust, and noise
