Medical Assistant Job Details – Chicago, IL

• Location: Chicago, IL 60612 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Setting: Hospital
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $920-$940
• Position Type: Travel Contract Medical Assistant
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 5, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Day shift, Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week (5x8-hour shifts)
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• EMR System: Cerner
• Parking: $2/day at JTDC with shuttle service

Medical Assistant Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred (or 5 years with MA Certification)
• MA Associate's Degree or Medical Assistant Diploma required
• Current MA Certification (AAMA, AMT, NHA, ARMA, NCCT, or NRCMA)
• Active BLS certification
• Experience with both adult and pediatric patients required
• Bilingual skills required (Spanish preferred for Chicago healthcare jobs)
• Proficiency with Cerner charting system
• Community hospital experience required
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility (local candidates only)

Medical Assistant Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and recording vital signs (blood pressure, respirations, temperature, pulse)
• Assisting with clinical procedures: EKGs, medication administration, TB tests, biopsies, casting, dressing changes, immunizations, suture removal, and wound care
• Supporting adult outpatient clinic operations and pediatric care
• Managing patient histories, allergies, and medication records
• Setting up aseptic and sterile procedure trays
• Performing vision testing, pulmonary assessments, and follow-up phone calls
• Insurance verification and completing authorization forms
• Floating to other ACHN units within 50 miles as needed
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, and Pharmacy
