Starting Wage:
$15.50 - $17.50 / per hour DOQ
Hours and Schedule:
20-35 hours / week
Position Summary:
Lifeguards ensure the safety of pool patrons and the efficient operation of the pool. Lifeguards report directly to the Pool Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consistently prevent accidents, enforce safety rules, respond appropriately to emergencies, and work cooperatively in a team.
- Work with all members of the Villa Park Aquatic Team to establish and maintain a positive TEAM environment while maintaining participant safety in, on, and around the water.
- Communicate effectively with and demonstrate professionalism to patrons, Aquatic Team members, management, and Village Administration.
- Consistently enforce all pool rules and regulations on and off duty, work cooperatively in a team to appropriately respond to emergencies and maintain crowd control when appropriate.
- Participate in mandatory professional in-service training.
- Teach or assist with Learn to Swim lessons.
- Make a reasonable effort to independently solve problems, referring problems beyond personal comfort to the Pool Manager.
- Maintain all equipment necessary for the successful operation of the pool.
- Perform other pool duties as requested by the Pool Manager and Village Administration.
Qualifications:
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age or 15 years of age with a valid work permit.
- Must hold current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
