Industrial Maintenance Technician
Industrial Maintenance Technician
Location: Montgomery, IL 60538
A day in this role
You arrive on shift to a buzzing facility that relies on your expertise to keep production humming. You’ll review work orders and mechanical drawings, scan exploded-view diagrams, and walk the floor with operations to prioritize fixes. One hour you’re diagnosing a pneumatic hiccup, the next you’re fabricating a bracket, welding a small repair, re-routing a piece of conduit, or supporting a CNC machine that needs attention. You’ll collaborate with a Supervisor, Lead Person, and operators to analyze machine problems, then lock out and tag out equipment while recognizing and controlling the five forms of energy before you turn a wrench.
Throughout the day, you’ll place purchase requisitions for repair parts, coordinate with outside vendors by phone or on site, and document work to keep departmental records and inventory accurate. You may climb a platform to access a junction box, jump on a scissor lift (training available), or support facility needs like basic plumbing, painting, or HVAC touch-ups. You wrap up by walking through open work orders and setting tomorrow’s plan—then you’re ready for the next challenge.
What you’ll tackle
- Troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, install, move, modify, and fabricate equipment, fixtures, and processes alongside the maintenance team.
- Interpret verbal instructions and written references including service and parts manuals, exploded-view diagrams, hydraulic/pneumatic/mechanical drawings, and work orders.

- Communicate clearly to coordinate job assignments and help train team members across departments.
- Submit purchase requisitions, maintain assigned records, manage portions of department inventory, and interface with outside vendors.
- Partner with Supervisors, Lead Persons, and operators to analyze equipment issues and improve uptime.
- Follow all lockout/tagout procedures and apply energy-control best practices.
- Support facility upkeep and work with outside service providers as needed.
- Contribute where needed—other duties as assigned.
