Med/Surg RN Job Details – Jacksonville, IL

• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing
• Location: Jacksonville, IL 62650 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Facility Type: Critical Access, Magnet Hospital
• Unit: Medical Surgical (PAH THREE SOUTH)
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/15/2025 – End: 12/15/2025)
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: Float between two Med/Surg units as needed
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Parking: Free with permit
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2000-$2050

Med/Surg RN Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or in application process (required for Illinois nursing jobs)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Surgical RN experience
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross)
• ACLS certification preferred
• Proficient in starting IVs
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting preferred
• Community hospital or critical access hospital experience preferred
• Ability to float between Med/Surg units
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• First-time travel nurses welcome

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with diverse diagnoses (CHF, COPD, post-op ortho, kidney disease/dialysis, dehydration, and more)
• Start and manage IVs, administer medications, and monitor patient progress
• Float between two Medical Surgical units to support hospital staffing needs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Utilize Cerner for accurate electronic charting and documentation
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning
• Maintain infection control and isolation precautions according to hospital policy
• Work every other weekend and two out of three major holidays during the contract
