Assistant Director, Philanthropic Finance
The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) invites applications for Assistant Director, Philanthropic Finance to support Financial Operations. In addition, the Assistant Director, Philanthropic Finance will play a critical role in supporting the broader strategic priorities of the DIA, and ultimately this position will help foster a life-changing experience for student-athletes.
Since 1892, DIA has operated on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to support its intercollegiate athletic programs. Today, DIA supports 21 intercollegiate varsity sports which compete as a part of the Big Ten Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. DIA provides the resources for over 500 student-athletes to participate at the highest levels of their respective sports. This extensive support ecosystem includes over 35 departments employing over 300 dedicated staff members including 80 plus varsity coaches working collaboratively to provide individualized championship-caliber opportunities to our student-athletes, in the classroom, in the competitive arena, and in personal and professional development, to enhance their growth and life preparation. Organizational Relationship This position will report to the Assistant Director of Athletics, Financial Operations Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Athletics, Financial Operations, provide a variety of services that are complex, highly diversified, and require independent judgment. Support the effective use of departmental financial resources related to the finance functions of the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) and State Farm Center (SFC), with the goal of efficient and value-added business operations processes, and effective interaction with all levels of DIA and the University of Illinois. For a complete list of duties and responsibilities, Assistant Director, Philanthropic Finance Impact in Your First Year Within 3 months, you will: During the first three months, the employee will focus on collaboration and integration. They will assist and work closely with External Staff and the Business Office, contributing fresh ideas to improve existing processes. At the same time, they will begin training on University and DIA systems such as Paciolan, TED, and Banner, while gaining an understanding of the related policies and procedures. Additionally, they will start shadowing Business Office projects and provide support in creating new reports. Within 6 months, you will: The employee will continue developing strong working relationships with DIA and University staff, fostering collaboration across departments. They will start to take ownership of assigned projects and reports, becoming the primary contact within DIA for these tasks. Furthermore, they will deepen their understanding of accounting policies and guidelines, particularly those related to year-end reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial operations. By the end of the first year, you will: The employee will take full responsibility and independence of assigned projects and reports, serving as the primary lead for external tracking and engagements. In addition, they will demonstrate expertise in Government Accounting Policies and Guidelines. By this point, they should be able to work efficiently and independently on all assigned tasks with minimal supervision, showcasing both confidence and competence. Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 5/4/2026. The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $70,000 and the salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization.
