Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Elmhurst, IL 60126

Shift: Day Shift | 5x8 Hours | 40 Hours/Week

Type: Contract

Job Summary

Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, assembly, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment. Ensures all instruments meet safety, quality, and infection control standards per hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments using proper PPE and established protocols
• Operate washers, autoclaves, and sterilization equipment safely
• Disassemble, inspect, assemble, and package surgical instrument trays
• Ensure instruments meet quality standards before sterilization
• Follow ANSI/AAMI standards, IFUs, SOPs, and infection control guidelines
• Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization cycles and inventory tracking
• Monitor and manage instrument and supply levels
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Collaborate with team members and support workflow improvements
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year sterile processing experience
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization, and infection control
• Experience with steam sterilization and related equipment
• Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and IFUs
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in fast-paced settings
• Basic computer and documentation skills
• Ability to follow SOPs and safety protocols

Preferred

• CRCST, CIS, or equivalent certification
• Hospital or surgical center experience

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
