Hours: 3rd Shift - 10pm - 6am

Location: Elgin, IL

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Die Maker to join our 3rd shift team in a fast-paced metals manufacturing environment. This role is critical to maintaining production flow and includes responsibilities that may lead to a Lead or Supervisor position. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with troubleshooting dies, supporting press operations, and taking initiative to lead and support other team members on the shift.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in supervising all 3rd shift employees, ensuring safety, productivity, and quality standards are met.

• Take the lead in troubleshooting dies in the press and resolving issues to minimize downtime.

• Troubleshoot and support secondary assembly machines when needed.

• Perform changeovers of dies accurately and efficiently.

• Start new coils, empty scrap bins, and move materials as needed to support production.

• Carry out tool room tasks, including maintenance, repair, or fabrication of tooling and die components.

• Ensure production lines remain operational by responding promptly to issues and proactively maintaining equipment.

• Collaborate with production staff and other departments to ensure workflow continuity.

• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications:

• 6 + years of experience as a Die Maker, Tool & Die Technician, or similar role in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills, especially in die maintenance and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with press operations, die setups/changeovers, and secondary assembly equipment.

• Ability to operate forklifts or material handling equipment preferred.

• Basic knowledge of safety standards and lean manufacturing practices.

• Good communication and leadership skills; previous lead or mentoring experience is a plus.

• Willingness to grow into a leadership role on the 3rd shift.
