About UsOur client is a fast-growing, client-centric Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firm providing comprehensive financial planning and investment management services to high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners. As part of our commitment to delivering truly holistic wealth solutions, we are launching an in-house tax department — and we're looking for a highly motivated and experienced Tax Manager to lead the charge.
Role OverviewAs our first Tax Manager , you will be responsible for creating, building, and overseeing the internal tax function from the ground up. This is a strategic leadership role designed for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset and deep technical expertise in tax planning and compliance, particularly for high-net-worth individuals and business entities. You’ll work in close partnership with our financial advisors to integrate tax strategy into the overall client experience.
Key Responsibilities- Build the Tax Function: Design and implement internal tax systems, workflows, tools, and processes aligned with the firm’s advisory model.
- Client Service & Tax Planning: Deliver proactive tax planning and compliance services to high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, and small businesses.
- Team Development: Hire, train, and lead a future team of tax professionals as the department scales.
- Compliance Oversight: Manage and review the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns (1040s, 1065s, 1120-Ss, 1041s, etc.), ensuring accurate and timely filings.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with financial advisors and planners to integrate tax strategy into clients’ broader financial plans.
- Technology & Tools: Evaluate and implement tax software and digital tools to streamline operations and reporting.
- Risk Management: Maintain compliance with IRS and state tax regulations and stay ahead of changes in tax law.
- Client Communication: Communicate complex tax strategies in a clear and approachable way to clients and internal stakeholders.
- CPA required; MST or EA a plus
- 7+ years of progressive tax experience, preferably in a public accounting firm or RIA/wealth management setting
- Strong knowledge of individual, trust, and small business taxation
- Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and delivering tax advisory services
- Proven ability to build systems and lead teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
