Role Snapshot
This is a mid-level Civil Engineer role focused on land development / civil site design . You will support diverse project types across:
Commercial development
Education facilities
Municipal/public projects
Infrastructure-related site development
You’ll work on the full civil design lifecycle—combining technical design, Civil 3D production, and practical coordination with project managers, architects, and stakeholders.

Position Overview
RTM is seeking a Civil Engineer (3–8 years experience) to support civil/site and land development projects across multiple RTM markets. The selected candidate may sit in Overland Park, Chicago, Schaumburg, or Davenport , with one total hire being made across these offices.
This position blends:
Civil engineering design
Civil 3D modeling and construction documents
Coordination and communication across disciplines
Exposure to permitting, drainage/stormwater systems, and real-world site constraints
Key Responsibilities
Civil Site & Land Development Design
Design civil systems including:
grading and drainage
stormwater management
sanitary sewer systems
water systems
roadways and access drives
parking and site circulation
Apply civil engineering fundamentals to produce constructable solutions aligned with local requirements
Civil 3D Production & Construction Documents
Prepare exhibits, site plans, and construction documentation using Civil 3D
Produce clear, accurate, permit-ready civil plan sets with strong attention to detail
Maintain drawing quality and coordination standards across deliverables
Stormwater / Permitting Support
Utilize stormwater management software to support:
design calculations
compliance requirements
permitting documentation
Support permitting workflows through documentation, calculations, and agency-ready submittals
Technical Review & Field Exposure
Analyze reports, surveys, drawings, and technical data
Conduct site investigations (as required)
Support construction activities including project documentation and coordination
Coordination, Scheduling & Project Support
Coordinate with:
senior engineers
architects
PMs
project stakeholders
Track project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements
Communicate clearly and proactively to ensure deadlines and milestones are met

Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
3–8 years of civil/site and land development experience
Proficiency in Civil 3D (required)
Ability to interpret:
codes and standards
reports and surveys
construction drawings and specifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability and willingness to mentor junior staff
Familiarity with permitting, surveying, and construction processes
U.S. work authorization required ( no sponsorship )
Preferred Qualifications (Highly Valued)
EIT certification (preferred)
PE license or strong PE-track progression (major plus)
Experience supporting projects in:
municipal/public sector
education
commercial / industrial development

Market-Competitive Estimate (Mid-Level Civil / Civil 3D):
$75,000 – $105,000 base (depending on years, Civil 3D strength, and project ownership)
