Claims Recovery Senior Specialist (Property and Ocean Marine)
Zurich is currently seeking an experienced Claims Recovery Senior Specialist (Property and Ocean Marine) to join our Recovery Services team within the Claims Shared Services organization. This fully remote role offers flexibility and is open to candidates located anywhere in the United States.

Under moderate supervision, you will evaluate legal liability and actively pursue, negotiate, and resolve subrogation collections. When on-site investigation is required, you will obtain additional information from the referring office. This role involves regular communication with insureds, witnesses, attorneys, and underwriters to gather and provide necessary information.
You will work within defined limits and authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity. Responsibilities include preparing, reviewing, and approving data entry into the Loss Accounting System, as well as handling multi-line and multi-jurisdictional losses.
Day-to-day responsibilities of this position:
- Engage effectively with claimants, principals, agents, witnesses, and attorneys to conduct investigations and recover assets owed to the company. Collaborate with national and local regulatory bureaus as necessary.
- Identify business opportunities by exploring and implementing new resources, and continuously evaluate collection practices to improve efficiency.
- Review bonds, accounting records, invoices, and other relevant documents during investigations and recovery efforts. Notify appropriate parties of any outstanding issues.
- Foster strong communication and information sharing with other teams, utilizing available resources to deliver comprehensive solutions to collection challenges.
- Prepare detailed reports outlining investigation findings, analyze cases, and recommend appropriate courses of action.
- Recommend and implement improvements to collection processes, integrating new concepts and approaches while maintaining focus on goals. Monitor and manage expenses related to claims and salvage cases.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance Industry area
OR - High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance Industry area
OR - Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance Industry area
AND - Experience with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of commercial lines insurance including jurisdictional laws
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on claims in Subrogation in the Property and Ocean Marine line of business
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Organization and detail-oriented skills
Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations are above the listed range, we still encourage you to apply—your unique background matters to us. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The proposed Salary range for this position is $59,900.00 - $98,200.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
