Groomer

We are seeking an experienced Groomer to join our team at Pet Place. In this role, you will be responsible for providing professional grooming services to dogs and cats, ensuring that each pet receives top-quality care. This position requires technical grooming skills, knowledge of breed-specific cuts, and the ability to work with a variety of temperaments. You will also assist with the overall cleanliness of the grooming area and contribute to a positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pet Grooming: Provide full grooming services, including bathing, haircuts, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression for both dogs and cats.
• Breed-Specific Grooming: Knowledge of different breeds and grooming styles to provide tailored services for each pet.
• Health & Safety: Monitor pets during grooming for signs of skin issues, allergies, or injuries and report concerns to management or a veterinarian.
• Customer Service: Communicate with pet owners about their pet’s grooming needs and provide recommendations based on breed and coat type.
• Facility Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness in the grooming area, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and in good working condition.
• Record Keeping: Document grooming services provided and note any specific care requirements for each pet.

Potential Job Hazards:

• Loud Noises: Exposure to loud noises, including barking dogs and clippers.
• Animal Handling: Exposure to animals with varying temperaments, requiring patience and control during grooming sessions.
• Cleaning Chemicals: Regular use of grooming shampoos, cleaning agents, and sanitizers, with potential exposure to chemicals. PPE will be provided.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a professional pet groomer.
• Knowledge of breed-specific grooming standards and techniques.
• Ability to handle animals with care, including those with challenging temperaments.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently.
• Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Grooming certification from a recognized institution is preferred.
• Must pass a background check.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
