PeopleReady of Fresno, CA is now hiring Environmental Technicians in Mossville, IL! The Environmental Technician II supports the Sustainability Services onsite program, performing manual labor associated with hazardous and non-hazardous waste management. Responsibilities include chemical handling, lab pack duties, drum movements, bulking, crushing, and general support for environmental compliance projects. This is a non-supervisory, field-based role requiring physical labor and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

Pay Rate:

The pay rate for this job is $25 - $25 / hour*

What you'll be doing as an Environmental Technician :

• Segregate, label, mark, and package waste materials in a safe and compliant manner.
• Collect, pour, transfer, consolidate, repackage, and package solid, liquid, and sludge materials.
• Perform labor-intensive activities such as:
• Container or drum collection
• Drum bulking
• Sorting compost and recyclables
• Loading trucks
• Transfer waste into containers of various sizes.
• Provide labor support at 90-Day Hazardous Waste Pad, when applicable.
• Ensure proper segregation of waste types and compliance with regulatory shipment windows.
• Maintain accurate tracking logs and ensure proper container labeling.
• Identify best practices to reduce waste volumes, improve operational efficiency, and generate cost savings.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Participate in safety processes, including training, meetings, and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
• Follow Environmental and Quality Management System (ISO 14001/9001) policies and procedures.
• Maintain compliance with EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.

Job requirements:

• Education and Experience
• Required: High school diploma or GED and 2–4 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
• Preferred: RCRA, TSCA, OSHA (HAZWOPER), and DOT training.
• 24-hour HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
• Experience with manifesting hazardous and non-hazardous waste is a plus.
• Other Skills and Abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to safety and regulatory compliance.
• Work Environment
• Frequent use of motor coordination and finger dexterity.
• Regular physical effort handling objects up to 50 pounds.
• Exposure to occupational risks (e.g., cuts, burns, chemicals).
• Work in environments with dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes.
• Ability to perform tasks in inclement weather
