Key Job Details – Med/Surg RN Locum Tenens, Chicago, IL Location: Chicago, IL 60612 (Medical District) Healthcare Setting: General Medicine/Telemetry Unit (7E) Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract) Start Date: September 2, 2025 End Date: December 2, 2025 Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), every other weekend required Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Estimated Weekly Pay: $1800-$1840 On-Site Position Scrub Color: Navy Blue Charting System: Cerner EMR Parking: $2/day with shuttle service Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Illinois RN license (required prior to submission) Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in Medical/Surgical nursing BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious flu vaccine exemptions allowed) Willingness and ability to float to other hospital units as needed (mandatory float facility) Must work every other weekend and comply with facility RTO (Request Time Off) policy Proficient in Med/Surg clinical skills, dysrhythmia interpretation, isolation precautions, airway management, peripheral line care, tracheostomy management, and rapid response team participation Med/Surg RN Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care on the General Medicine/Telemetry Unit Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions using Cerner EMR Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, provide oxygen therapy, and manage tracheostomies and peripheral lines Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans Float to other nursing units within scope as required to meet facility needs Participate in rapid response teams and adhere to all safety and infection control protocols Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, including mandatory vaccination and time-off requirements Experience the excitement of Chicago healthcare jobs in the Medical District—surrounded by top hospitals, research centers, and vibrant neighborhoods.
