Job Description

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team responsible for developing electronic displays and guidance systems. This role involves working on a project to transition the display platform from an Android-based system to a QT, Linux-based display. You will play a key role in rewriting applications and re-architecting the middle layers of the application, including business logic and user interface.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other Engineers to establish weekly goals.

• Design display and guidance systems using QT.

• Interface with Systems Engineers to refine requirements and solutions.

• Design new feature sets for the platform.

• Assist with Linux Device development.

• Contribute to architecture design if experienced with QT.

• Perform unit-tests on code to identify and fix bugs.

• Utilize networking protocols (CAN, LIN, etc.) for vehicle communication.

• Engage in daily development activities, accounting for 60-80% of the day.

• Work on tasks such as C++ conversion, customer-facing code, and data transmission stability.

Essential Skills

• BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.

• 3+ years of embedded application development experience.

• Strong experience in object-oriented and multithreaded systems.

• Proficiency in the person.

• Experience with Linux.

• Experience with communication protocols and networking (CAN, LIN, RS-232, RS-484, Ethernet, USB, etc.).

• Strong communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with the person is a plus.

• Experience with SQL, Postgres, PostgreSQL is a plus.

• Familiarity with GIT is a plus.

• Experience in the automotive industry is advantageous, as is experience with companies like Motorola or RIM/Blackberry.

Work Environment

The role offers a hybrid work schedule, with a preference for local candidates who can work on-site a few days a week. The work environment is a large corporate setting with various roles, including engineering and manufacturing. Standard working hours are from 9 AM to 5 PM. The dress code is business casual, such as khakis and button-down shirts. You will be part of a team of 15 or more professionals.

This is a Contract position based out of Oak Brook, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
