Hospital Lab Tech Job Details

• Location: Paris, Illinois (61944) – Illinois healthcare jobs
• Setting: Hospital Laboratory
• Employment Type: Travel Laboratory Technician
• Start Date: August 4, 2025
• End Date: February 2, 2026
• Duration: 26 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: Night Shift, Four 10-hour rotating shifts per week (including weekends and holidays)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1250 - $1280

Lab Technician Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Hospital Lab Tech, Medical Laboratory Technician, or Clinical Laboratory Technician
• Associate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field required
• Phlebotomy skills for patients of all ages preferred
• Typing skills and experience with laboratory computer systems preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures preferred
• National certification (ASCP or equivalent) highly recommended

Key Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity clinical laboratory analyses under supervision
• Collect arterial, venous, and capillary blood specimens from pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
• Conduct drug screen collections and point-of-care testing
• Process and analyze blood, serum, plasma, urine, and other body fluids using laboratory analyzers
• Perform serological, chemical, and coagulation tests as required
• Maintain accurate records in the Hospital Information System (H.I.S.)
• Teach and mentor Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) students and new staff in laboratory techniques
• Participate in laboratory quality control, continuing education, and in-service programs
• Ensure compliance with hospital laboratory policies and safety procedures
• Attend staff meetings and contribute to overall laboratory operations
