The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a specialized faculty position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor.
The Teaching Assistant Professor will contribute to the teaching mission of the Psychology department by managing the large enrollment multi-section introductory course (PSYC 100, which includes supervising graduate teaching and undergraduate Honors projects and managing the administrative aspects of PSYC 100) and teaching one undergrad course per year, and one graduate course each semester for PSYC 100 instructors.
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include the following:
- Managing all aspects of a large enrollment multi-section Introductory Psychology class
- Developing curriculum, including syllabus, lessons and activities, learning objectives, assessments
- Training and supervising 10-23 graduate instructors per semester
- Training of graduate instructors includes teaching one graduate seminar per semester, focusing on principles and methods of teaching psychology
- Observing teachers and provide feedback, manage administrative aspects of the course, including administering exams, maintaining LMS sites, scheduling, staffing, DRES accommodations, special student cases, etc
- Supervising 15-20 Honors projects per semester
- Teaching one undergraduate course per year
- Offering a Student Success workshop once per semester
- Administering the Introductory Psychology Proficiency exam
- Serve on committees that involve undergraduate and/or graduate academic affairs, preferably focused on teaching and program coordination
- Serving on the Psychology Department’s Human Subjects Committee
- Scholarly publications, invited talks, or other related activities involving the candidate’s discipline
SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This is a full-time, 9-month appointment, non-tenure track position with a target start date January 1, 2026. The budgeted salary range for the position is $62,500 to $70,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.

- The names and information for professional references who can address the qualifications related to the position of teaching assistant professor. The strong preference is for at least two of the reference authors to be individuals who have directly observed your teaching
