Responsibilities

• Perform 25-30 blood draws per shift using venipuncture techniques, including straight needles and butterfly needles, for patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric.

• Collect and store blood and other specimens, such as urine and fecal samples, according to established procedures and test requirements.

• Explain venipuncture, blood draw, and specimen collection procedures to patients in a clear, courteous, and professional manner.

• Fully understand and interpret physicians' orders and accurately match laboratory requisition forms or computer-generated labels to specimen tubes.

• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by specific test orders to maintain specimen integrity.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a phlebotomist.

• Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture using straight needles.

• Experience performing adult blood draws.

• Ability to perform 25-30 blood draws per shift.

Work Environment

The schedule runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with every other Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.]

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Itasca, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
