Overview:

The Senior Structural Engineer may be recognized as subject matter expert within CB&I Storage Solutions for one or more focus areas of civil and structural engineering and may serve as CB&I Storage Solutions industry representative through code committee work or participation in communities of practice. The role is responsible for performing or checking design and analysis of assigned deliverables on a CB&I Storage Solutions project associated with a Process Technologies Engineering product line such as low temperature, cryogenic and ambient fluid systems and other site facilities.

The work includes among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and construction documents. Over the course of time, capabilities in civil and structural engineering must increase as level of complexity of assignments increases and expectations expand for working independently with less supervision. The role reports to the Civil and Structural Discipline Manager and routinely interacts with other discipline engineers and designers such as: Project, Process, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, and Instrumentation & Controls. The Senior Structural Engineer may manage any engineer functions and supervise teams of Engineers and Designers on small projects. They shall ensure the review, check, and approval of engineering and design deliverables including Professional Engineer certification as required.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and schedule team activities on projects
  • Monitor and manage team performance and budget compliance
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and externally with suppliers
  • Provide support to CAD Designers
  • Read and understand design criteria for specified design
  • Gather supporting documents and information for assigned tasks
  • Read and understand the civil and structural portions of the EPC contract
  • Review and understand supplier and subcontractor documentation
  • Review design deliverables
  • Review and check engineering deliverables
  • Utilize project codes and standards such as ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, and IBC in execution of design
  • Travel to jobsite and participate in walkdowns and provide construction or commissioning support
  • Focus on one or more of the following tasks during project assignment:
    • Plan, schedule, and control the design and detailing for assigned engineering work and report progress to supervisor or project engineering.
    • Coordinate with other disciplines, departments, and companies to ensure seamless technical compatibility and completion of engineering tasks safely, on-time, within budget and meeting all quality requirements.
    • Specify proper materials and methods for procurement, fabrication, and construction.
    • Perform earthwork, drainage, and pavement design and analysis.
    • Perform structural steel and reinforced concrete design and analysis.
    • Perform foundation design and analysis.
    • Prepare civil, concrete, and structural specifications, calculations, drawings, and bills.
    • Review and check civil, concrete, and structural specifications, calculations, models, drawings, and other documents prepared by other Engineers and Designers.
    • Prepare technical documents for requisitioning and subcontracts packages.
    • Review bids from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure technical compliance with project requirements.
    • Review documentation submitted by suppliers and subcontractors.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering from an accredited school is required.
  • Professional Engineering License in at least one state is preferred.
  • Cross-functional training such as Graduate Development Program or equivalent.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.

Pay Range:

USD $95,000.00 - USD $110,000.00 Yr.
