Daycare Kitchen Helper

Active Childcare is looking for a passionate, goal orientated, reliable person who has leadership qualities, and someone who can serve food from 7:30a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Monday- Friday : 7:30 AM -4:30 PM

GENERAL DUTIES:

• Responsible for preparing breakfast as well as the clean up
• Responsible for portioning out the catered lunch and adhering to DCFS portion guidelines
• Responsible with dropping off the snack to the rooms
• Responsible for covering for teachers in classrooms while they are on their lunch break
• Responible for maintainign a clean kitchen
• Responsible for stocking shelves, putting away GFS order, making lunch on Fridays & making the menu for the month
• Responsible for helping out with the laundry and the overall cleanliness of the center
• Assisting the Director with anything she needs on a day to day basis

Qualifications: High school diploma or Equivalent

Successful pass of a background check and finger print scan

Food service and sanitation license (different from food handler's certificate)

- willingness to obtain immediately

Ensures that all state and local health department, licensing, safety and nutritional requirements are met; follows standards of personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation and ensures that other staff in kitchen do the same.

• Welcomes families, volunteers, and others into the classroom by creating a friendly environment and facilitating their participation.
• Demonstrates tact, courtesy, tolerance, and consideration for others. Interactions with individuals reflect mutual trust, respect, and support
• Treats each child with dignity and respect. Respects the privacy of children by not discussing children or their families in front of other children. Includes children in conversation with parents when the child is present and being discussed. Uses a confident, firm tone of voice in handling behavioral problems, not a shrill or angry voice. Never uses food or rest as a punishment.
• Shares information appropriately with other staff members; keeps classroom staff informed but doesn't violate confidentiality with those who have no need to know. Works with co-workers to share information on planned daily activities of the program, classroom management techniques, room arrangements and communication with families.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

• Maintains an orderly physical environment conducive to optimal growth and development with special regard to health and safety.
• Reports any medical problems and accidents to other staff and to the parents. Knows and follows Universal Precautions. Knows and follows proper Handwashing procedures. Knows and follows Active Childcare policies and procedures in the classroom.
• Knows procedures for reporting suspected incidents of child abuse and/or neglect.
• Participates in monthly fire drills and knows the primary and secondary evacuation routes.
• Observes the classroom, classroom supply areas, playground area and equipment for hazards and keeps the areas neat and sanitary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
