Associate Food Scientist

We are hiring an Associate Food Scientist who will work on the development of food and supplement application projects from concept through execution (development formats include but not limited to powders, ready-to-eat, ready-to-drink). The ideal candidates will be passionate about product development and maintain a positive mindset, passion for health and wellness categories is a plus.

Responsibilities include:

New Product Development

• Develop foods and supplements within the powder, RTD, RTE, and Tabs/Caps.
• Create and flavor prototypes.
• Follow formulas and processing instructions to create product bases.
• Organize sensor panels and refine formulations until desired characteristics are achieved.
• Oversees pilot plant experiments and scale up manufacturing runs.
• Monitors product stability.
• Reformulating to bring product formulations into compliance with changing government regulations or customer requirements.

Documentation

• Accurately documents all formulations, specifications, variables tested, product stability, and other pertinent details and enters into lab notebooks and Formula Management System.
• Produces formula cost information; works with purchasing, finance, and sales teams to help establish final product pricing; initiates new item forms for all product introductions.
• Collaborates with Regulatory Affairs to generate compliant supplement/nutrition facts panels and ingredient listings for product packaging/artwork and proofreads for accuracy.
• Works with Marketing and other departments on the technical execution of projects from concept through execution.
• Contributes to innovation, trouble shooting, and brain storming ideas in a team environment.
• Works with key suppliers to keep abreast of upcoming trends, novel ingredients, and new application ideas.

The Skills you will bring to the team

• Bachelors of Science in Food Science or related field.
• 0-2 years of experience or internships
• Experience or education working on the bench and/or production lines is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite.

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Glanbia varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set and level of experience. Glanbia provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in IL. This range may not be applicable to other locations. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. The annual salary for IL based employees for this role is $60k-$70K with an annual bonus.
