Summary
In this position you will be jointly responsible for the performance of molecular testing within our Genomics Unit. In this lab, in addition to DNA and/or RNA extractions, you will perform molecular analyses utilizing the latest technologies, like Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).
Responsibilities

• Perform specialized molecular analysis of varying complexity and on different platforms
• Control the operation of the analyzers, signaling of malfunctions, required maintenance, and the ability to assist in system troubleshooting
• Monitor the lab processes and the registration of data in the lab information management system (LIMS)
• Prepare the analysis, instrument devices, and the sample according to the procedure
• Accurately document the lab work performed
• Assist with data interpretation
• Adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies (GCP, CAP/CLIA, ISO)  and document all quality control activities accurately, systematically and with the ability to recognize outliers and correct them
• Manage inventory levels and supply ordering within the department
• Disposes of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines 

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college/university in the Biological Sciences, including but not limited to, Medical, Pharmaceutical or Biomedical laboratory technology, or Biochemistry

Qualifications

• 2 years of previous experience in a molecular testing laboratory, preferred
• Experience with any of the following preferred: Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), qPCR, dPCR, RNA-seq, WGS, WES
• Essential that the applicant possess a precise detail-orientated mind that can function in a team environment, as well as independently of direct supervision
• Fluent with computer programs, such as Word, Excel, and databases and are willing to acquire new skills
• Ability to express yourself fluently in English, both orally and in writing
• Present with a flexible, enthusiastic attitude, and a decisive mind towards work

Working Conditions

• 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am - 5pm
