Job Description:
This accounting firm focuses on US individual income tax related services including preparation and
management of individual tax return for federal, state, local, FBAR, and processing payroll for assignees
(mainly Japanese) and the job description is as follows:

TAX RETUN PREPARATION AND RELATED WORK:
It is recommended that this position requires individual tax knowledge since tax gross up calculation and individual income tax calculation on an annual base needed to be determined. Although the majority of the tax returns are prepared in Japan, I recommend that you prepare many returns to be more familiar with the tax return including processing. You will be assigned to Japan for two to three weeks at least in 2026 during the busy season to work with the staff in Japan including the tax director. The percentage of tax return related work will be approximately 80% during the busy season from February through April every year.

PAYROLL:

Payroll professional is responsible for maintaining payroll systems and processing payroll in accordance with a payroll cycle. Their duties include consolidating payroll data provided by clients and calculation tax gross up and entering manually or importing such data into payroll software (i.e., ADP, Paychex, etc.), reviewing preview and finalizing the payroll. It also includes communicating such results with the clients. Please note that payroll frequency varies based on the payroll clients from bi-weekly, semi¬ monthly to monthly. This payroll processing includes from client data collection to calculating tax withholdings. The tax withholding is calculated on a gross up basis in most cases. Therefore, this position requires income tax knowledge which is provided by respective tax manager on a hands-on training. The percentage of this work will be 60% of the whole work.

Qualifications: To qualify to candidate must have:
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting, or a payroll concentration within an accounting program from an accredited college/university.
• A CPA or EA license, or qualified candidate to sit for the CPA exam
• Strong tax accounting and analytical skills.
• Strong computer skills: proficiency in tax accounting software, Excel, Word.
• Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills.
• Business level proficiency in English required – Dual business level proficiency in Japanese required (Must be able to read, write and speak in Japanese)
• Ability to multi-task and set daily, weekly and monthly priorities.
• Detail-oriented with a strong level of accuracy in aspects of reporting and communication.
• Experienced working at CPA firm is a big plus
