POSITION SUMMARY (Assistant Principal):The Assistant Principal is a dynamic and mission-driven educational leader who supports the Principal in managing the school's day-to-day operations while serving as a strong and dependable second-in-command, both culturally and instructionally. This leader is responsible for ensuring that instructional practices lead to improved scholar outcomes through rigorous data analysis and high expectations for teaching and learning.At NLCP, college attainment, retention, and persistence cannot improve without strong instructional outcomes. Because instructional quality directly impacts the colleges our scholars access and their preparation upon arrival, the Assistant Principal plays a critical role in ensuring alignment between NLCP's instructional program and its college outcomes.In addition to driving instructional excellence, the Assistant Principal supports campus leadership in their varied responsibilities and initiatives. They help build and maintain a school culture where staff feel cared for, developed, and heard, while fostering a safe, structured, and effective learning environment. evidence of staff engagement across all team membersMonitor the experience of team members across departments in order to ensure that all staff have equitable expectations and experiencesFocus on equity of input by asking different people for input in different ways to ensure that team members feel heard and valuedPerformance ManagementEnsure direct reports have clarity of Roles & ResponsibilitiesCreate and execute ILT meetings and O3s with direct reportsCreate data practices and tracking mechanisms that ensure that direct reports get feedback on their practices and are meeting performance metricsCreate and execute Team Observations and walk-throughs to support your teams in their professional development and to hold your teams accountable to a culture of excellenceFacilitates and promotes professional growth for faculty and staff through performance evaluationsInstructional VisionaryCreate and implement NLCP's philosophy on all things instruction (with input from stakeholders), including but not limited to: culturally responsive pedagogy, grading, rigor (SAT as the floor), homework philosophy, collaboration, The Noble Classroom, etc.Create and implement the vision of the Instructional Leadership Team, and lead ILT meetingsPromotes student success by overseeing curriculum development and instructional strategies that meet the diverse needs of learnersLeadership DevelopmentProvide leadership and core value development and support for the instructional staffDevelop all leaders' ability to conduct high quality root cause data analyses and execute with fidelityObserve and provide feedback to instructional leaders on coaching conversations, team meetings, and weekly data meetingsDemonstrated experience leading teams through data-driven decision- makingInstructional CoachingMeet regularly with instructors to provide coachingMeet weekly with grade-level content teams managed to assess student mastery and plan targeted re-teaches related to standards-based instructionTake on coaching for team members who have been escalated for performance and have struggled to make improvements with their original direct managerSupport ILT in reviewing long-term plans for teams they manage and unit and daily plans for teachers who need additional supportProfessional DevelopmentLead and tap other instructional leaders to provide professional development related to instructional best practice for teachers across disciplinesLead professional development related to instructional leadership best practicesCreate and continuously refine the NLCP professional development calendar based on the needs / current priorities of NLCPData Management & AnalysisMonitor department-wide mastery trackers and respond to class-level data across all departmentsGuide teachers through reflective cycles after network assessments to analyze results and respondMonitor teacher GPA tracker (created & updated by DoS team), and guide instructional leaders through high quality GPA root cause analysis in order to improve GPA outcomes for scholarsFacilitates the development and implementation of systems, structures, and processes for continuous improvement aligned with ACT, College and Career Readiness Standards, the Illinois Accountability System, and the Chicago Public Schools Charter Renewal.Testing Coordination SupervisionCollaborate with site testing coordinator to provide logistical support for school-wide testing daysFacilitate the execution or manage the execution of AP TestingHiringCollaborate with the Principal and department deads to determine hiring needs.Support in the hiring of instructional staff members and College Team members as a hiring manager.Support the deans you manage with the first touches and outreach.QUALIFICATIONS (Assistant Principal):Education:Master 's or Doctoral degree in Education or related fieldExperience:Minimum of 3–5 years of teaching experience and 3–5 years of managerial or supervisory leadership experience in a public high school setting.Previous experience in an administrative or leadership role within a school.Demonstrated ability to provide visionary and strategic leadershipStrong organizational and decision-making skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to foster positive relationships with diverse stakeholdersUphold high standards of ethical and professional conduct Conditions of EmploymentMust be authorized to work in the U.S.Compliance with all board policies, ISBE requirements, and relevant educational laws and regulations.
