About the Position

Alton Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for the  R&B Acute Medical Care Unit . This unit provides high-quality care for acutely ill adult and geriatric patients, including general medicine, surgical, and infectious disease cases that require telemetry monitoring.

Unit & Shift Details

• Start Date: 05/26/2026
• Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Staffing Ratio: 1:5 (Nights)
• Unit Capacity: 24 Beds | Average Census: 16-18
• Requirements: Weekday and Weekend availability (though specific "no call/no weekends" notes exist, the description indicates weekend needs—clarify during interview).
• Float: Required within service line and scope.

Key Responsibilities

• Cardiac Care: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias; management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration/increase allowed; weaning/decreasing is permitted).
• Specialized Care: Neurological assessment and care for AIS (Acute Ischemic Stroke) and TIA patients.
• Procedures: IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC/Central line management, and blood product administration.
• Exclusions: This unit does not take active/unstable GI bleeds, uncontrolled chest pain with unstable vitals, continuous NPPV, or specific drips like Insulin, Neosynephrine, or Nipride.

• Hospital Size: 222 Staffed Beds.
• Scrubs: Navy Blue.
• Parking: Free on-site parking.
• Support Staff: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams.

Requirements

Experience & Technical Skills

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN experience.
• EMR: Epic experience is required.
• Travel Experience: Not required (First-time travelers are welcome).
• Radius Rule: Local candidates are not accepted (75-mile radius rule applies).

Certifications

• Required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Preferred: CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute).
