Physician Assistant (Neurosurgery) Opportunity in Arizona - Great Location!

Join two Surgeons and one PA in a replacement position.

Experience: Neurosurgery, neuroscience, or critical care experience preferred; spine and/or orthopedic experience also valued. General surgery experience is a plus.

Typical patient volume: 18-25 patients per day.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. On-call rotation with physicians and other PAs, including weekends and holidays.

Hospital Duties and Responsibilities

1. Performs first assistant duties.
2. Closes deep and superficial wounds.
3. Assists with neurosurgical procedures, including craniotomies, spinal procedures (including instrumentation), and microscopic procedures.
4. Conducts daily hospital rounds, including ICU patients.
5. Writes orders and progress notes.
6. Orders admission history and physicals.
7. Orders laboratory and radiographic tests.
8. Evaluates and clarifies clinical conditions.
9. Develops and implements treatment plans for hospitalized patients.
10. Handles discharge planning and writes discharge summaries.

Office Duties and Responsibilities

1. Evaluates new office patients with thorough history and physical exams focused on neurosurgical issues.
2. Presents patients to attending neurosurgeons.
3. Assists in formulating treatment plans.
4. Orders radiographic studies.
5. Evaluates postoperative patients and conducts routine follow-ups.
6. Handles same-day office visits and patient phone calls.
7. Manages prescription refills.
8. Reviews radiographic and laboratory reports for abnormalities.
9. Reviews imaging with attending neurosurgeons.

The tri-city area has a current population of approximately 100,000 and is rapidly growing. It features four mild seasons, is 1.5 hours from Phoenix, and a 4-hour drive to Las Vegas. Surrounded by mountains, tall pines, and scenic views, its an excellent place to raise a family with outdoor activities, good schools, low traffic, and low crime. The area also hosts three colleges.
