Senior Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client’s dynamic finance team near St. Charles, IL. This role will be focused on managing revenue recognition, gross to net income calculations, rebates, chargebacks, deductions and Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with a deep understanding of complex revenue-related processes, financial reporting and reconciliations.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

• Manage the calculation and reporting of gross to net income, ensuring accurate revenue recognition in compliance with GAAP and company policies. Prepare detailed analysis of revenue deductions and adjustments
• Oversee the accounting for customer rebates, chargebacks and other pricing adjustments
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of rebate and chargeback claims and monitor customer accounts for any discrepancies
• Review and analyze customer deductions, including sales allowances, returns and promotional allowances. Reconcile and resolve any discrepancies between the general ledger and customer deductions
• Assist in the financial management of GPO contracts and related financial arrangements. Ensure proper accounting and reporting for GPO-related rebates, fees and pricing structures
• Lead the month-end close process related to revenue and deductions, including journal entries, reconciliations and variance analysis
• Prepare and analyze key financial reports, providing insights on revenue, margins and profitability. Support the Finance Manager with budgeting and forecasting for rebates, chargebacks and GPO-related transactions
• Assist in preparing for internal and external audits related to revenue and deductions. Provide required documentation and explanations for audit queries
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of revenue recognition, deductions and rebate accounting processes
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Finance and Operations, to resolve issues related to revenue, deductions, chargebacks and rebates

Senior Accountant Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• 5+ years of experience in accounting within the Life Sciences industry.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles related to revenue recognition and deductions
• Ability to analyze complex financial data and identify trends and issues
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is preferred
