Summary

The Consumer Lending Manager is responsible for the oversight of consumer lending operations and Visa Card program to ensure achievement of the credit union's objectives and strategies. Manages the day-to-day operation of the consumer loan department including loan origination, underwriting, processing, funding, post-closing, and vendor management.

The Consumer Lending Manager works under the supervision and direction of the Director of Consumer Lending. They also work with loan underwriters, FSRS, and supervise all consumer loan department staff. S/he interacts with other members of the department, organization, and liaisons with the applicant

Key Responsibilities
  1. Monitor Staffing levels, scheduling, and workflow to ensure coverage to accomplish operational responsibilities within the department.
  1. Trains and cross trains department staff on lending products as needed.

    Acts as a trainer for new MSR's and FSR's instructing on loan programs, entering applications in CU Base and all other functions related to lending.

3. Maintains a thorough understanding of PFCU programs and procedures related to the PFCU products offered.

4. Responsible for the sales and cross sales of PFCU Consumer, Visa, Home Equity products, First Mortgage, Student and Business loans.

5. Actively markets PFCU loan products as appropriate and implements member follow up (calls / contacts) to ensure goals are meet; develops a member "book of business" and is pro-active in seeking new business.

6. Reviews loan documents to ensure compliance with established credit union policy and procedures and regulatory rules and regulations.

  1. Works with collections by reviewing loan delinquency reports; contacts delinquent members to acquire payment or resolve nonpayment; processes workouts or refinances as needed.

  2. Oversee the individuals responsible for loan support, including but not limited to, tracking insurance, vehicle titles and the ordering of HELOC appraisals, flood certs and title commitments.

  3. Acts as a resource for MSR's/FSR's and all PFCU staff for all lending related questions.

10. Underwrites consumer, HELOC and Visa applications that are forwarded for review from PFCU FSR's/ MSR's with limits of Approval Authority IV.

11. Provides and acts as a backup for office coverage to meet business demands; may be utilized to open or close the office, provide supervisor override (review / approval) and assist members in general.

12.Keeps abreast of industry developments including, but not limited to changes in regulations, technology current events, credit union, banking, and lending trends allowing members to rely on you for information, education, advising and guidance.

13.Manages and supports Consumer Lending department with direction in processing, underwriting, closing, funding and guidelines to align with department goals and the overall loan processing of all consumer loans focusing on compliance with applicable guidelines.

Increases loan production, product and service sales, and reduces errors in loan documentation, through ongoing training and coaching of lending and retail team.

14.Works closely with Consumer Lending Director and CLO on product profitability and program management.

15.Continual trend analysis of monthly lending and collection reports are used to make necessary adjustments to underwriting practices.

16.Works with Consumer Lending Underwriting team, to ensure they have a complete understanding of all state and federal regulations (Reg Z, Reg B, Reg D, etc.)

17 Ensure proper quality control measures are in place and actively review those activities and results

18.Functions as a business, project lead or SME on assigned departmental and/or organization wide projects. Contributes expertise in assigned area and executes deliverables.

20. Represents PFCU in SEG and community functions to enhance PFCU's image while seeking additional growth opportunities.

21. Promotes and maintains a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner consistent with professional standards; works effectively with members, co-workers, management, and vendors

22. Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures and Banking/Credit Union Regulations; adheres to all regulatory compliance.

23.Performs additional duties as required; may be utilized in other PFCU offices and departments as business needs dictate.

Scope

The Consumer Lending Manager works under moderate supervision following established guidelines and procedures and exercises independent judgment. This person must be action and sales oriented, self-motivated, and creative while being highly functional. S/he must have expert knowledge of consumer lending products and services.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree, finance or business major preferred. Related field or equivalent job-related experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities of the role.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years related consumer lending experience at a credit union, bank, or other financial institution.
  3. Solid knowledge of consumer lending regulations.
  4. Personable and member centric. Always maintains the highest level of client service standards.
  5. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  6. Strong decision making and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects/duties.
  7. Results driven, service and goal oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  8. Trustworthy with the ability to maintain highest level of integrity and trust.
  9. Proficiency in all Core and Lending applications to include member applications, proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work in a multi-application environment.
  10. Must be flexible regarding work schedule as evening hours may be necessary at times.
  11. Travel required to all PFCU offices locations as the business needs dictate.
Additional Information and Requirements

The Consumer Lending Manager performs a major portion of her/his duties through verbal and written communications. It is critical that s/he possess the ability to communicate with clarity, while understanding and explaining complex situations to team members and outside contacts. Accuracy is essential and s/he must possess the ability to proofread documentation and correspondence to insure free of errors and fraud. The person will spend a good portion of the day seated at a workstation, but may also be mobile throughout the credit union for purposes of meetings, working with others, etc. The position requires the ability to move or lift files, boxes and general office equipment if needed. Must be able to Lift up to 15 pounds at times. This position requires travel to all PFCU branch offices and community events.
