Retail Thrift Store Associate-Part Time

Join us as we look for several PART-TIME year round staff members at our New Lenox thrift store; The Treasure Chest :

Retail Associate/Cashier: performs a combination of material handling and cashiering duties. Minimum four days per week, possibility of Saturday/Sunday availability.

Processing Department: handles items as they come in, are inspected, sorted and priced for placement on our retail floor. Minimum four days per week, possibility of Sunday shift. Hours can be determined together with our Store Manager.

Clothing Department: Sorting, pricing, merchandising of clothing items on our retail floor; including shoes and accessories. Hours: 9:00 am - 2:00/3:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday.

Essential Functions-General:

1. Provide friendly, efficient customer service to donors and/or customers while cashiering and performing other functions within the retail environment.
2. Collect money as customers purchase merchandise.
3. Answer phones, sort, clear, price and prep donations for sale on sales floor at expected rate of production.
4. Maintain a clean workstation, perform basic housekeeping duties and assist with stocking the sales floor.
5. Assist with training co-workers
6. Work with the entire mission staff as a team member.
7. Incorporate the philosophy of MorningStar Mission in every aspect of the store, customer service, employee moral, and program training.
8. Fill in any position as required.
9. Related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

1. Ability to be available year-round in a part time role.
2. Retail or cashier experience a plus.
3. Basic computer skills with knowledge of internet and email.
4. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
5. Ability to comply with personal and business requirements and expectations as detailed in the Employee Handbook. .

Hours: Part-time role (and must be available year-round)
Pay: $15.00 per hour
