Department Summary HSC Health is the academic clinical practice for the University of North Texas Health Science Center ( HSC ) . Focused on improving health outcomes to build a healthier community, HSC Health primary and multispecialty care clinics are located on the HSC campus. Our care teams extend to local hospitals, surgery centers, long term and continuing care centers, and mobile and in-home care. HSC Health's interprofessional teams work collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, specialized technicians, and nurses work together while intentionally integrating health care students, residents, and fellows to deliver care to our community. Salary Information Commensurate with experience Position Summary The EVP for Health Systems is the chief executive responsible for all aspects of the HSC clinical enterprise, and other areas related to operations, which includes Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPE), Correctional Medicine, SaferCare Texas formerly known as the Institute for Patient Safety, HSC Health Clinical Practice and Regional Simulation Center. The position is responsible for assuring optimal financial, clinical, and service quality for the entire HSC clinical enterprise This position reports directly to the HSC President. Representative Tasks:
  • Accountable for strategy, execution, operations and results for all clinical enterprise functions of HSC
  • Responsible for operating budget, Profit and Loss and supporting infrastructure for all HSC clinical enterprise activity.
  • Position HSC Health Clinical Practice as a clear example of One University,
  • Position HSC Health Clinical Practice Group supports our four pillars: 1) Extraordinary teamwork; 2) Defining and producing the providers of the future; 3) Financial strength; and 4) Sustainable people culture; in particular, demonstrating strong financial performance to ensure viability and contribution to HSC fiscal security.
  • Work with the President, CFO, Deans, Provost, and other key executives to enhance the performance and quality -based plan for faculty/providers, which will offer incentives for high productivity and disincentives for low productivity.
  • Responsible for the oversight, strategic development, and integration of HSC Health Clinical Practice Group with other clinical enterprise functions of HSC via the Strategic Roadmap. In coordination with HSC and UNT System HR, ensure all staff within the Clinical Practice Group have a performance-based compensation plan that rewards top performance.
  • Support development of a Clinician measurement tool that will allow all clinicians, supervisors, and chairs to understand Clinician-specific, clinic- specific, and department-specific productivity and quality measures.
  • Lead and organize all negotiations for all HSC Health clinically related programs
  • Review and optimize HSC Health clinical operations.
  • Operationalize a whole health model approach that includes all clinical disciplines.
  • Contribute to and actively support the five-year HSC institutional strategic planning exercise and link the HSC Health systems strategic plan to the HSC Strategic Roadmap.
  • Effectively leverage current infrastructure and develop a thoughtful plan for evolving infrastructure and an org chart to ensure scalability.
  • Support the growth of an IT strategy that supports clinical excellence, growth and operational effectiveness through the collection of data, use of analytics and performance measurement through the use of metrics. Improve the capabilities at all levels of the organization through assessment and development of existing people and the recruitment of new talent. Proactively address succession planning.
  • Lead creation of inorganic growth strategy, taking into account market, regulatory and competitive dynamics. Identify and pursue clinical innovation focusing on education and research in the care delivery environment.
  • Continue to disseminate and support the HSC Vision, Mission, and Values.
  • Provide expert, reliable, and confidential counsel and guidance to the HSC President
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proven senior level leadership experience within complex organizations, preferably CEO-level or operations equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to get things done within a matrix organization and ability to influence results without direct ownership.
  • Proven relationship building with key internal and external stakeholders, preferably in a start-up or comparably dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work in less defined, unstructured or immature business models.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters or other advanced education preferred (e.g. MBA, MHA, MPH). 5-10 years in a leadership role within the healthcare services sector.
  • Demonstrated senior level experience leading execution.
  • Demonstrated business acumen
  • Start-up or direct experience in product/service extension preferred.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory quality, safety and reimbursement environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinician with primary care experience
  • Patient Safety experience
  • Significant progressive higher education experience that includes administrative experience in the area of academic leadership, preferably in an academic medical center or health science center setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the recruitment, retention, and success of a diverse faculty, staff, and student body, as well as diverse academic disciplines associated with a comprehensive university.
  • Academic credentials and previous faculty teaching experience.
  • Possesses a record of vision execution and leadership around institutional strategic planning for academic activities.
