Job Summary: California public schools are actively hiring passionate and dedicated Visual Arts Teachers at all levels—elementary, middle, and high school—for the upcoming school year. This opportunity is ideal for educators who want to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression among students. Due to increased support and funding from Proposition 28, schools statewide are expanding visual arts programs, resulting in dozens of open positions. Hiring managers across California are eager to connect with qualified arts educators interested in contributing to this growing initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned visual arts curriculum suitable for diverse student populations and grade levels.
  • Teach foundational and advanced techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital media, ceramics, and other visual art forms.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages students to explore artistic creativity and express themselves.
  • Evaluate student artwork and provide constructive, ongoing feedback to students and families.
  • Organize student art exhibitions, showcases, and participate in school-wide and community arts events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to enhance student achievement and enrich the school's arts culture.
  • Maintain organized classroom management aligned with district policies and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Valid California Single Subject Credential in Art or eligibility to obtain credential (California offers credential reciprocity for out-of-state educators).
  • English Learner (EL) Authorization or eligibility to obtain from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Previous experience teaching visual arts to diverse student populations preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering creativity, inclusion, and artistic expression for all students.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to actively engage students in hands-on artistic activities.
  • Effective visual and auditory capabilities to instruct and guide artistic projects and critique student work.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range: $56,155 – $117,259 annually, based on education and experience.
Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and retirement contributions.
  • Additional stipends available for advanced degrees or extra responsibilities.
