Substitute Preschool Teacher
Barnette Academy is seeking caring, dependable, and flexible Substitute Teachers to support our growing school community. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about working with children and comfortable stepping into a variety of classroom environments ranging from infants (6 weeks) through Pre-K (5 years).
As our school continues to grow, we are building a strong substitute team to help support classrooms during staff absences, vacations, and busy seasons throughout the year, especially during the summer months.
Responsibilities
- Support classrooms with children ages 6 weeks – 5 years
- Step into different classrooms as needed and follow classroom routines
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children
- Assist teachers and school staff throughout the day
- Help with daily school duties including:
- Laundry
- Dishes
- Serving meals and snacks
- Classroom clean-up and organization
- Maintain professionalism, flexibility, and a positive attitude
Qualifications
- Experience working with children preferred
- Comfortable working with a variety of age groups
- Flexible and willing to jump in wherever support is needed
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable, punctual, and eager to help
Requirements
All substitute teachers will be required to:
- Pass a background check
- Provide required medical documentation
- Complete all required DCFS paperwork and trainings for individuals working with children
Schedule
- School hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Most substitute shifts are approximately 9 hours with a 1-hour lunch break
- Scheduling will vary based on staffing needs and availability
