Lead Bartender
Summary of Position:
Responsible for leading the entire bar team to successfully execute all aspects of bartending responsibilities including training, coaching, preparing beverages for guests and dining room service staff according to company specification. You will also be responsible for ordering and serving food for guests that dine in the bar area with a friendly, accommodating demeanor, as well as having the ability to multitask which is essential for success in this position. You will be working closely with the beverage manager in maintaining and ensuring that bar staff is up to date with any changes, training of new staff members and ensuring they are ready to work the floor, helping out with inventory and orderings of all bar products. You will also have weekly 1 on 1’s with the beverage manager.
Scheduling:
This role will require a full time commitment.
Essential Functions:
- Effectively service a full bar top, cocktail station and dining room orders.
- Arrange and set up beverages, mixer garnishes and supplies in an efficient and
professional manner, according to venue specifications.
- Responsible for the supervision and creation of all prep work for the beverage program.
- Responsible for weekly inventories of all beverage program needs with the Beverage Manager on Wednesday night.
- Responsible for training bar staff with proper opening, and closing systems
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for teaching associates how to prepare and deliver drinks, how to
properly handle food and money and how to set up the bar at the beginning of a shift,
during service, and break down at the end of a shift.
- Lead Bartender assists Bar Manager to ensure FIFO is followed by the entire bar team and ensuring all open products have been properly labeled and dated.
- Understand all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs.
- Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous
service at all times.
- Ensure that all beverage products are consistently prepared and served according
to the establishment's recipes, portioning, preparation and serving standards.
- Use tact and good judgment when dealing with difficult guests. Respond to their
needs with patience and courtesy.
- Ensure that all products are received in correct unit count and condition and
deliveries are performed in accordance with the establishment's receiving policies
and procedures.
- Communicate cordially, effectively and clearly with all employees, managers, partners,
corporate staff and guests.
- Follow all steps of service as covered in training.
- Must wash hands regularly according to guidelines.
- Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines
- Understand and complete all daily and weekly side work as assigned.
- Be able to stand and walk for an entire shift.
- Communicate in English in order to comprehend and perform/follow job requirements in
written and spoken direction.
- Perform more than one task at a time.
- Do not over-serve guests and immediately seek out management with any concerns
about a guest that may appear intoxicated.
- Account for and maintain the security of all bar stock and inventory.
- Work in a confined, crowded space with variable noise and light levels.
- Secure management approval for any comps, voids or automatic gratuity.
- Accept direction and constructive criticism from management.
- Be able to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends and increased
work schedules.
- Maintain a positive, pleasant attitude every shift
