Trailer Technician

Midwest Mobile Maintenance is looking for an energetic, self-motivated and preferably experienced tractor trailer mechanic/technician to join our growing company. Technicians perform a wide variety of tasks from repairs, maintenance, installations, preventative maintenance, to diagnostic tasks for various makes of semi-trailers. The ideal candidate would need to be able to work autonomously as well as integrate well into a team setting.

Responsibilities:

· Perform routine/preventative maintenance on tractor trailers

· Inspect, diagnose and perform mechanical repairs related to electrical and other defects on semi-trailers/tractors

· Industrial and fabrication repairs; a basic knowledge of air brakes, axles and suspensions is preferred

· Knowledge in adjusting and replacing air brakes and ABS systems on trailers.

· FHWA & PM inspections

· Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot issues

· Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed

· Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to complete projects efficiently

· Basic knowledge and experience with welding steel and aluminum is preferred

· Perform onsite repair at customers location for tractors and trailers

Experience:

· Proven experience as a tractor Trailer Mechanic or similar role

· Knowledge of tractor-trailer systems and components

· Ability to diagnose/repair air brake and ABS systems on trailers

· DOT/FHWA inspection experience

· Experience with stick welding and minor fabrication is preferred.

· A class "A" CDL is preferred.

· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions

· Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb on or under trailers for extended periods of time

· Lift 75-100 lbs. intermittently

· Strong customer service skills to interact with drivers and fleet managers

Job Type:

· Full-time

· Monday-Friday

· Day Shift

· Overtime is always available, but not required

· Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour, based on experience

Work Location:

Our main office and shop is located in North Plainfield/Naperville. Our mobile techs mainly work in/at our various customer locations/yards (company truck is provided for mobile techs).

Job Requirements:

• At least 18 years of age
• Must possess a current and valid driver license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company’s insurance carrier.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
