Purchasing Agent Assistant

Reports to: Purchasing Agent / Director of Purchasing

Classification: Non-Exempt / Full Time Hourly

Job Summary:

This position assists the Purchasing Agent in specific departments, vendor customer service, follow up on all special projects assigned by the buyer or Director of Purchasing.

Essential Functions:

1. Perform, monitor & manage entry of all new items into our system.
2. Create and test EDI ordering process of vendors within areas of specific departmental responsibilities.
3. Review of upcoming Ads for in stock position & ensuring Ad orders are here and to stores on time.
4. Review and record Ad results after Ad Event ends.
5. Follow-up/ Processing of Invoice discrepancies.
6. Review and updating of MSL’s based on Purchasing Agent direction.
7. Updating of all Vendor maintenance information.
8. Review of outstanding orders and follow up on orders not received past ship / cancellation dates.
9. Manages calls, email, DC & Store issues, along with scheduling appointments for Purchasing Agent.
10. Ad entry in Ad Serts & KCX systems.
11. Manages Store Ad/ scanning (all clerical) type issues.
12. Generate reports and orders from company computer software on a regular basis.
13. Provide new SKU information to our Ecom team.
14. Organize and execute routine price checks on key items.
15. Create and/or release purchase orders as directed by the purchasing agent.
16. Post critical department information on Company Learning Management System.
17. Assist in any applicable Farm & Home Supply store for product resets and Grand Openings.
18. Travel to buying shows will be required 2 times yearly, via flying or travel by car.
19. Lifting capability up to and includes 25lbs.

Additional Responsibilities:

Completes special projects directed by Purchasing Agent or Director of Purchasing. Additional responsibilities may be assigned at any given time.

Minimum Requirements of Training and Experience:

Previous retail experience preferred. The candidate must have strong computer (Excel & Microsoft Office) and organizational skills. Must be detailed orientated, proficient at data entry with solid math skills, analytical skills, and strong communication skills.
