Box Truck Driver

We are a local, ethnic food importer & distributor that services retail stores in the Chicagoland area. You will play a vital role in ensuring smooth warehouse operations and efficient distribution processes. This energetic position involves safely driving and operating straight truck/vans, on local routes, handling inventory, operating heavy equipment, and supporting order fulfillment activities. DAILY DUTIES
- VEHICLE OPERATION: Safely drive straight trucks, vans on local routes.
- CARGO MANAGEMENT: Load, unload, and secure freight using equipment like pallet jacks and lift gates.
- INSPECTIONS & SAFETY: Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- DOCUMENTATION: Verify paperwork, invoices and BOL for accuracy and maintain logs.
- CUSTOMER SERVICE: Represent the company professionally during deliveries.
- COMPLIANCE: Adhere to safety standards.
- ORDER FULFILLMENT ( PICKING/PACKING ): Retrieving items from storage (picking) and securely packaging them (packing) for shipping.
- SHIPPING AND LOADING: Preparing pallets, loading trucks, and updating records for outgoing shipments.
- SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE: Operating equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely, maintaining a clean workspace, and removing hazards.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- VALID CLASS C DRIVER’S LICENSE IN ILLINOIS: operating vehicle up to 26,000 lbs.
- AGE REQUIREMENT: minimum 21 years or older.
- PHYSICAL STAMINA: Ability to stand for long periods and lift, push, or pull heavy items (50+ lbs.).
- ACCURACY & DETAIL: High attention to detail for checking in orders with receivers.
- TECHNICAL SKILLS: Familiarity with safe operation of material handling equipment.
- COMMUNICATION: Ability to work well with team members and supervisors.
MANDATORY EXPERIENCE: up to 5 years of commercial driving experience particularly with box trucks.
COMPENSATION: $20 - $24 PER HOUR BASED ON EXPERIENCE, HEALTH INSURANCE OR OTHER BENEFITS NOT PROVIDED
WORK HOURS: MON – FRI 1ST SHIFT EARLY MORNING START TIMES ( 6:00 AM TO 8:00 AM )
