Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Urbana, Illinois (61801) – Illinois nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown Unit
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nursing Contract
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 27, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shifts: 3x12 hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2000-$2050

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum of 1 year recent cardiac stepdown or acute care nursing experience
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, email, web browser)
• Demonstrated multicultural sensitivity and strong critical thinking skills

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to cardiac stepdown patients during assigned shifts
• Conduct initial assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Implement nursing interventions and clinical support procedures
• Continuously evaluate and adjust care plans based on patient needs
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of nursing care and patient progress
• Assess IV sites every 4 hours and initiate new IVs per facility policy
• Monitor for changes in patient status and respond appropriately
• Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and reporting hazards
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Participate in staff meetings and ongoing departmental competencies
• Support professional development of peers through constructive feedback
