Job Description
The Sr. Manager, Accounts Payable is responsible for leading the Accounts Payable function for the North American region, overseeing a team of 10+ including 2-3 direct reports. This role ensures operational excellence, promotes continuous improvement, and partners cross-functionally to enhance Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep AP expertise, strong systems knowledge, and a passion for team development.

Position location: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule based out of Deerfield, IL. Effective mid-2025, Fortune Brands will transition to a new world-class campus in Deerfield, bringing together associates from across our U.S. offices, brands, and functions. The campus will offer vibrant workspaces for collaboration, along with amenities for dining, onsite daycare, fitness and recreation.
RESPONSIBLIITIES:
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage and develop a team of 10+ through effective delegation, cross-training, and accountability.
- Provide coaching, training, and timely feedback to support career development.
- Oversee AP operations supported in global locations for the North American region.
- Support integration of acquisitions into AP processes and systems.
Operational Excellence & Reporting
- Drive production and distribution of team productivity metrics and enhanced reporting.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for AP processes and systems in the North American region.
- Prioritize and support IT projects and system enhancements related to AP modules.
- Partner with Procurement, Finance, Global AP COE, and business leadership to improve P2P solutions.
Controls & Compliance
- Understand and promote internal controls across AP processes.
- Recommend and implement company-wide policies and procedures related to P2P.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including 1099 reporting.
Continuous Improvement
- Promote lean transactional processes to create synergies, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
- Identify and implement enhancements to reporting, reconciliations, and payment processes.
- Evaluate and optimize payment methods and automation opportunities.
Collaboration & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with regional AP leads and outsource vendors to standardize processes and systems.
- Manage outsourced workstreams (e.g., utilities) with strategic partners.
- Ensure cost-effective workforce strategies and vendor relationships.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, AP or related field
- 3+ years of management experience
- Strong understanding of P2P processes, internal controls, and compliance
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP), AP automation tools, and reporting platforms
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive change, and collaborate cross-functionally
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of related experience
- CPA
- MBA
Additional Information
Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $105,000 USD - $165,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
