Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR)
Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: Contract (19 Weeks)
Shift:
- Combination of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts
- On-call and weekend shifts required
- No option for exclusively 12-hour shifts
Short Description
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room (OR) in a Level 1 trauma and teaching hospital environment. The ideal candidate will have strong multi-specialty surgical experience.
Job Description
The RN will provide perioperative nursing care in the Adult Operating Room, supporting a variety of surgical specialties. This role requires expertise in surgical procedures, patient safety, and collaboration with surgical teams in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Assist in a variety of surgeries including general, orthopedic, trauma, neuro, and robotic procedures
- Maintain sterile field and adhere to surgical protocols
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical staff
- Monitor patient status and respond to intraoperative needs
- Ensure accurate documentation of procedures and patient care
- Participate in on-call rotation and weekend coverage
- Uphold patient safety and quality standards
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room experience
- Experience across multiple specialties including general, ortho, trauma, neuro, and robotics
- Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts including on-call and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a trauma center environment
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records system
- Scrub experience
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of trauma center experience is highly desired
- Experience with EPIC system is highly desired
- Scrub experience is highly desired
- Active New York State RN license is required
