ISO Management Specialist
The Opportunity
The ISO Management Representative serves as the primary liaison between the organization and external auditors, ensuring compliance with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 17025). This role is responsible for maintaining and improving the company’s quality management system (QMS), coordinating internal audits, facilitating management reviews, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The representative ensures the lab adheres to documented procedures and that corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the ISO 17025-compliant quality management system.
- Ensure all procedures, policies, and documentation meet accreditation requirements.
- Monitor and report on the performance of the QMS to senior management.
- Plan and conduct internal audits to assess compliance and effectiveness.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate training programs to ensure staff competency in ISO 17025 requirements.
- Maintain records of qualifications, training, and competency assessments.
- Manage controlled documents including SOPs, work instructions, and forms.
- Ensure timely review, approval, and distribution of quality documentation.
- Serve as the primary contact for accreditation bodies and external auditors.
- Prepare for and facilitate external assessments and surveillance audits.
- Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
- Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for process enhancements.
- Evaluating non-conformities and deciding which issues require immediate corrective action versus long-term improvement.
- Reviewing performance data and deciding which processes need to be optimized to meet quality objectives.
- Identifying missing or outdated documentation and working with departments to update and standardize records.
- Engage in other lab-related responsibilities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Bachelors in chemistry, biology, or related field.
- 3-5 years experience in in a Laboratory Quality Role, preferably in an ISO 17025 Accredited environment
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 17025 requirements
- Experience with internal auditing and CAPA Processes
- Strong organization, communication, and leadership skills
- Strong understanding of laboratory operations, calibration, measurement uncertainty, and traceability
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. Annual salary for Illinois - based employees for this role is $70,000 to $85,000.
