Precision CNC Mill Setup and Programming Technologist

If you love turning chaos into control on Mazak vertical and horizontal mills — building bulletproof setups, tightening cycle times, and coaching others to do it right — this mission is for you. You’ll own the health of CNC and manual milling processes, from program to part, and drive continuous improvement that operators, supervisors, and customers can see.

Your mission

• Lead end-to-end CNC mill setups in your area — calibrate, fixture, tool, and program for consistent, high-quality production.
• Author, refine, and maintain CNC programs, fixturing strategies, tooling selections, and setup documentation that raise quality and throughput.
• Be the go-to troubleshooter for complex machine/process issues, minimizing downtime and protecting delivery commitments.
• Run first-piece verification, complete production/quality records, and ensure in-process checks by tenders are performed and accurate.
• Capture materials, adjustments, and performance in the ERP system to keep data clean and actionable.
• Coach CNC Operators and Tenders on setups, best practices, and problem-solving; provide direct hands-on help when needed.
• Train team members on new parts and procedures so on-time delivery and quality metrics are achieved.
• Continuously seek, document, and implement improvements that cut setup time, refine machining methods, improve safety, and lift production rates.
• Partner closely with Setup Technicians and Engineering to tune machine performance, programs, and setups.
• Maintain setup sheets and monitoring logs to ensure repeatability and smooth handoffs.
• Oversee and document the scrap process for assigned facilities in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform daily preventive maintenance; assist Maintenance with advanced tasks to reduce downtime.
• Uphold safety standards, wear required PPE, and keep your area organized and audit-ready.
• Operate both CNC and manual milling equipment as needed; take on additional duties as assigned.

Where you fit in the team

You may report indirectly to a Production Lead, and directly to the Production Supervisor.

What you need to succeed

• 18+ years of age.
• High school diploma/GED or significant related experience.
• 5+ years running CNC machinery across single-/multi-axis and single-/multi-turret systems, with experience on Mazaks, Doosans, INDEX, and Nakamuras.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and common hand tools (drills, screwdrivers, impacts).
• Ability to interpret blueprints and part schematics; read/write effectively; perform basic arithmetic; follow written and verbal instructions.

Schedule and structure

• Full-time role (40+ hours/week). Days and hours set by management.
• Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, eight (8) hours/day. Some overtime, evenings, and weekends may be required.
• Choose from First Shift (6:30 am–3:00 pm) or Second Shift (3:00 pm–11:30 pm).

Physical demands & safety

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. Expect frequent lifting up to 50 lbs and occasional lifting up to 75 lbs; frequent use of hands/fingers with moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping. Required PPE includes safety glasses and steel-toed work boots or shoes.
