We are a small, mission-driven nonprofit organization based in the North Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago. LCDC’s culture promotes self-reflection, mutual respect, and healthy relationships. We take a proactive approach to problem-solving, emphasizing clear roles, expectations, and accountability. We employ a biblical approach to communication and conflict resolution. The culture of LCDC is fast-paced, collaborative, and deeply rewarding.

Job Overview

The Real Estate Project Manager plays a central role in LCDC’s development operations, overseeing critical phases of residential and mixed-use construction projects, managing contractors, and ensuring adherence to project budgets, schedules, and compliance standards. · Handle environmental due diligence, demolition, and remediation coordination.

· Lead coordination of architectural plans for assigned projects.

Other Expectations

§ Participate in community organizing activities and public events.

§ Engage in professional development opportunities as available.

§ Perform other duties as assigned.

Core Competencies and Skills

The Project Manager demonstrates disciplined accountability and a meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every project phase meets measurable, high-quality, and cost-effective standards. They think creatively and adaptively, bringing innovative approaches to construction and development challenges while maintaining integrity, transparency, and professional composure under changing conditions. Skilled in organization and information management, they establish and uphold clear project controls, monitor trends that may affect outcomes, and ensure all documentation, reports, and financial data are accurate and compliant. Their oral and written communication skills enable them to present complex information with clarity, lead meetings effectively, and produce concise professional documentation.

Equally strong in relational and strategic competencies, the Project Manager builds and sustains productive partnerships with contractors, funders, and community stakeholders, embodying teamwork and trust. They plan and evaluate with precision—setting measurable goals, coordinating schedules and budgets, and using data-driven cost-benefit analyses to guide decision-making. Operating with deep organizational awareness of LCDC’s mission and systems, they apply sound financial and project-management principles to oversee timelines, resources, and quality control measures. Their leadership reflects an ethical commitment to excellence, innovation, and collaboration—aligning every project milestone with LCDC’s broader goals of equity, accountability, and community transformation.
