Engineering Technician

Pay Rate: $25.00/hr-$35.00/hr

Express Employment Professionals in Brookfield seeking a hands-on, highly motivated Engineering Technician to join our Broadview team. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, can balance multiple priorities, and applies first principles thinking to improve organizational processes and product performance.

The Engineering Technician will work closely with design and production engineers to build, test, and refine prototypes and production systems. You'll also play a key role in performing electrical, mechanical, and software tests while ensuring projects have the materials and technical documentation needed to stay on track.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily tasks independently with little to no direct supervision.
• Collaborate with design and production engineers to enhance mechanical and electrical product designs.
• Build, test, and debug prototypes including PCBA circuits, mechanical assemblies, and battery systems.
• Perform failure analysis on PCBAs and battery systems, and recommend corrective actions.
• Modify, solder, and desolder PCBAs as required.
• Set up and execute electrical, mechanical, and software tests on PCBAs and batteries.
• Conduct end-of-line (EOL) testing on batteries and PCBA assemblies.
• Create, modify, and maintain lab fixtures - including those for high-voltage battery systems.
• Execute software testing, including regression testing and test automation.
• Write technical documentation including test plans, wiring diagrams, test reports, and work instructions.
• Fabricate wiring harnesses and connect sensors, power supplies, and data acquisition systems for test platforms.

Skills & Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills - capable of clearly articulating next steps, blockers, and technical challenges to stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds.
• Strong mechanical aptitude - able to disassemble and reassemble mechanical systems safely, without instruction.
• Solid experience authoring technical documentation and reports using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Working knowledge of electrical hazards, including high-voltage equipment and rotating machinery.
• Proficient in the use of electrical diagnostic tools: Digital Multimeters, Meg-Ohm Testers, Thermocouple Meters, Oscilloscopes.
• Strong soldering skills - capable of soldering and desoldering surface mount components on PCBAs.
• Basic wiring skills, with the ability to connect sensors, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience testing or working with high-voltage battery systems
• Experience in a prototype or R&D lab environment
• Background in software or test automation tools
• Familiarity with PCBA design and troubleshooting
