Job Overview:
Our East Dundee, IL location needs a Residential Support Associate. This is a part-time role focused on providing emotional support, practical assistance, and a Christ-centered presence to residents of RLOM’s maternity home. Working under the direction of the Residential Manager, this position serves as a helper, teacher, and role model, ensuring the physical upkeep of the home and supporting residents in their daily lives. The ideal candidate is a mature Christian with a heart for serving pregnant women in crisis, strong organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a nurturing yet structured environment during scheduled shifts, including occasional overnight support.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Support and Life Skills Coaching:
- Provide emotional support to residents, offering encouragement and maintaining composure to de-escalate conflicts with loving kindness.
- Teach life skills in areas such as personal care, household duties, and the health and well-being of both mother and baby, as needed during shifts.
- Support residents in working toward their program goals, offering guidance and reinforcement in collaboration with the Residential Manager.
- Serve as a positive role model, reflecting Christian values and fostering a sense of community and hope.
Household Assistance:
- Prepare meals during assigned shifts, applying nutritional knowledge to support the health of residents and their babies.
- Ensure the overall maintenance, cleanliness, and order of the home, assisting with chores and upkeep as directed by the Residential Manager.
- Manage transportation needs using RLOM’s company van, driving residents to appointments or activities as scheduled.
Documentation and Oversight:
- Document daily resident performance and compliance in a report, noting observations and any concerns for the Residential Manager’s review.
- Monitor the home’s environment during shifts, ensuring safety and order while establishing authority with compassion and respect. Provide overnight support as scheduled, responding to resident needs with attentiveness and care.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with the Residential Manager to maintain a consistent, supportive atmosphere aligned with RLOM’s mission.
- Assist in receiving and organizing donations during shifts, ensuring resources are available for residents.
- Participate in staff meetings or training as required to stay aligned with program goals.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 35 with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a deep commitment to RLOM’s Christ-centered mission and values.
- Valid state driver’s license with at least 5 years of driving experience, a clean driving record, and current auto insurance.
- High school diploma or GED required; additional education or training in social work or a related field is a plus.
- Ability to pass a Level 2 background screening and eligibility to work in the United States.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Formal or informal experience working with pregnant women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods is highly recommended.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain composure, de-escalate conflict, and work effectively with diverse personalities while upholding personal boundaries.
- Highly organized, with skills in planning, prioritizing, and time management to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Basic nutritional knowledge and cooking skills to prepare healthy meals.
- Ability to establish authority with loving kindness, balancing structure and empathy in a residential setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work onsite in a residential setting, including occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs.) for household duties or resident support.
- Capability to prepare meals, assist with chores, and provide transportation during scheduled shifts.
- 20 to 28 hours per week. Schedule: Monday-Tuesday 3:30pm to 8:00pm, Thursday-Friday 3:30pm to 8:00pm, Saturday 10:00am to 6pm. Some flexibility is possible.
